The
O4 Racer is a project conceived a few years ago as a test bed for new parts
and ideas. This project will be a constant refinement of materials, knowledge
and new parts to achieve nothing more than durability and speed. It has
been my intention to utilize the high tech materials, light weight and
one off, in combination to assemble a light and fast Henderson Racer that
I call the O4 Racer. One goal for the worlds fastest Henderson will be
to break the old Ace record. |

These
aluminum cylinders are among the first parts for the O4 racer. They are
made from A356 aluminum, heat treated to T-6 and are an experimental version
of the old cast iron factory originals. A complete set weighs 25 pounds
less than originals. There are currently 2 sets made. One set is destined
for the O4 racer and the other set to be installed in a customers engine
for testing. These cylinders do not have a press fit liner but have the
bores coated with NiCaSil. They should dissipate large amounts of engine
heat for a cooler running motor and with the NiCaSil bore coatings there
will be no need to ever rebore these. The only future maintenance will
be ring replacement. With the exhaust ports enlarged and polished and higher
compression ratio due to a change in the combustion chamber these cylinders
just may prove to be the best way to go when replacing cylinders. |
